Chasing Spring on Two Wheels!

Honestly, one major reason we love staying in shape is the opportunities it provides to maintain our outdoor activities. Even though we've been tooling around town here and there on our mountain bikes, we've been itching to go that extra mile! The ideal was to hit a MBT trail this weekend and had MoMBA Metro Parks in Dayton in mind, until we realized they weren't open. Moving to plan B, we threw the bikes in the truck and ventured south anyway (sometimes you just have to go first and find later)! We figured we'd eventually stumble across a paved bike trail that would satisfy our craving. Starting at Canal Feeder in Sidney, we got in an uneventful 7.7 miles, but it pays to stop your fellow walker/bikers (the locals always have advice)! As a result of our boldness, we popped back in the truck and headed south again 15 minutes to Piqua and landed at the Lock 9 location of the Miami Valley Trails. This was a beautiful smooth ride along the Great Miami River. Our senses were overloaded with the sweet sounds of birds praising the fabulous weather, the sight of turtles on logs, trees folding over you like a covered bridge, spring flowers bursting color from the ground, the sun and warm warm wind on our faces, and the unforgettable smell of approaching summer fun! We ended up getting in another 11.5 miles before having to head back home, but what an incredible day! Happy trails!
