Sun, Sand, and Yes, Sweat!

Yoga by the pool, on vacation, on an island, in Florida. It's the ultimate way to do yoga, or any kind of physical exercise. Like most, Mike and I choose to use our vacations to relax, but we also choose to balance vacation with mental and physical health combined. We use the cool morning weather to work up the sweat and the late afternoon beauty to take our walks. We're conscious of walking or renting bikes to explore instead of a car or golf cart. This vacation we threw in our stretch cords and jump ropes, using more crossfit exercise than weights or machines. Squats, sit-ups, planks, burpee and sprints are a lot easier to "fit" into your suitcase. No, we don't go overboard or even work out as we would at home--after all, we are integrating "relax" into our equation. We're conscious of limiting our workouts to 45 minutes so we can still enjoy morning coffee overlooking the beach. Integrating calorie burning excursions also helps (kayaking, paddle/boogie boards, golf). This way we're practically tricking the body into exercise while having fun! It's so interesting how different your vacation experience becomes. The senses seem enhanced as you not just work out up to the vacation, but you work out through the vacation. Challenge the body on your next get-away with a few tricks and see just how good its feels.
